Relief for Ntinyika as new borehole commissioned

The residents of Ntinyika in Matapato North Ward, Kajiado County, are celebrating the commissioning of a new borehole that will provide clean and reliable water to both the local school and the surrounding community.

The project was supported by Rev. Shalom Chun, the International Sharing and Innovation Organization (ISIO), and Korea Friends of Hope International (KFHI). It aims to ease water challenges in the semi-arid region, where families have long struggled to access safe water sources.

Kajiado Central Member of Parliament (MP) Memusi Kanchory thanked the partners for their efforts, saying his office was represented at the event to acknowledge their valuable contribution. He praised the organizations for their dedication to community development and for complementing government initiatives in the region.

The borehole is expected to benefit Intinyika Primary School by improving sanitation and hygiene standards while also saving time for learners who previously walked long distances in search of water. For the wider community, the project will reduce the burden on households, particularly for women and children who bear the greatest responsibility for fetching water.

Community members have welcomed the development as a symbol of partnership and progress. Leaders believe the project will encourage similar collaborations across Kajiado Central, enhancing water security and supporting the county’s long-term development goals.

The success of the Ntinyika borehole highlights how joint efforts between international partners, local leaders, and residents can deliver lasting solutions to challenges faced in remote parts of Kajiado.
