The County Government of Kajiado, through the Department of Livestock, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Irrigation, has trained leaders from three Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) on management, governance, and grant handling to strengthen cooperative operations and improve access to affordable credit.

The training, held at the NITA Institute in Kitengela Sub-County, targeted leaders representing Iloodokilani Laramatak SACCO, Dupoto ee Mosiro SACCO, and Emunyani Farmers SACCO (Keekonyokie). Participants, most of whom were youth, were guided on leadership, governance, grant management guidelines, and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) framework.

SACCO leaders were also sensitized on the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) principles of inclusion and equity, aimed at ensuring that vulnerable groups, particularly women smallholder farmers and young entrepreneurs, can access affordable credit.

The training concluded with the signing of MoUs between the participating SACCOs and Community Driven Development Committees (CDDCs). The agreements outline the roles and responsibilities of both parties, with the county government overseeing their successful implementation.

Officials said the training is part of ongoing efforts to empower local cooperatives, improve governance, and enhance financial inclusion in Kajiado County.
