State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito has once again demonstrated his commitment to empowering education and community development in Kajiado County. During a visit to Inyoyori, Keekonyokie, in Kajiado West, Metito awarded bursaries worth Ksh 20,000 each to 100 students and handed over a new school bus to Namelok Secondary School.
The event, which coincided with the Mazingira Day celebrations, brought together local leaders, students, parents and community members. Metito also took part in tree planting, aligning the occasion with the national environmental conservation efforts spearheaded under Mazingira Day.
The bursaries are expected to ease the financial burden faced by many families in the area, ensuring that bright but needy students continue with their education without interruption. The new school bus for Namelok Secondary is a major boost to the institution, improving transport for learners and enhancing access to extracurricular programs and educational tours.
Over recent months, Katoo Metito has been consistent in supporting schools and students across Kajiado County. In June 2025, he facilitated the donation of an 11 million shilling bus to Kiserian Primary School, enhancing mobility and safety for pupils. He has also been actively distributing bursaries in several wards within Kajiado West and supporting children’s homes such as the AIC Kajiado Child Care Centre through welfare donations.

Speaking during the event, local leaders commended the initiative as a practical show of leadership that touches both education and the environment. They said the bursaries would motivate students to perform better in school while the new bus would ease the long journeys that learners have been enduring for years.
The Inyoyori event follows a series of outreach programs that Metito has spearheaded under the State House initiative aimed at uplifting rural schools. In Kajiado West and neighbouring sub-counties, his office has been involved in upgrading school infrastructure, distributing learning materials, and promoting technical and vocational training for out-of-school youth.
Metito has also been working closely with local administrators to identify vulnerable learners who require urgent financial assistance. Through his education support programs, hundreds of students have already benefited from bursaries, school fees support and mentorship sessions across Kajiado.
Residents of Inyoyori expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the bursaries and the new school bus will have lasting impacts on their children’s education. The initiative aligns with the national call to improve learning conditions and expand opportunities for rural students.
