The Law Society of Kenya (LSK), in collaboration with the Kajiado Paralegal Center, held a legal aid clinic in Kajiado County aimed at addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and improving access to justice for vulnerable community members.
The event was convened by LSK Council Member Irene Otto under the theme “Gender-Based Violence and Access to Justice,” and drew participation from local residents, legal professionals, and civil society actors.
LSK President Faith Odhiambo led the clinic, offering pro bono legal support to survivors of GBV and those facing legal challenges. A team of volunteer advocates joined her in providing free legal consultations, helping residents understand their rights and navigate justice systems that often feel out of reach.

The clinic served as a platform for open dialogue, with community members sharing personal experiences and raising concerns about systemic barriers to justice. Organizers emphasized the importance of bringing legal services closer to the grassroots, especially for women and youth who are disproportionately affected by violence and legal exclusion.
Toward the end of the clinic, residents presented a petition to President Odhiambo, urging her intervention in the longstanding Kibiko land dispute. She received the petition and assured the community that it would be reviewed and forwarded to the relevant authorities for urgent action.
With the Kibiko land remaining one of the most contentious land disputes in Kajiado County, the legal clinic was a significant step towards bridging the gap between legal institutions and grassroot concerns.
