Kajiado residents voice priorities in ongoing development forums

Public participation on Kajiado County’s Annual Development Plan for the 2026/2027 financial year gained momentum on Friday, October 3,2025 across Illodokilani, Ildamat and Dalalekutuk Wards. The forums attracted large numbers of residents eager to influence the county’s next phase of development.

In Illodokilani Ward, hundreds of locals led by MCA Jonathan Saigilu gathered at the Ward MCA’s Office. The session was chaired by Rombo Ward MCA, Jackson Angaine and focused on identifying priority projects. Residents urged the county government to complete stalled developments and sustain investment in key infrastructure projects.

At Ildamat Ward, community members discussed service delivery and asked for equitable resource distribution. They called for better access to education, healthcare and clean water, noting that such services remain critical to improving living standards.

In Dalalekutuk Ward, traders in Kajiado town urged the county to upgrade the main market to stimulate business growth. They called for expansion, proper planning, better sanitation, improved security and stable electricity. The traders also raised concern over worn-out roofs that leak during the rainy season, saying renovations would uplift the market’s image and strengthen local entrepreneurship.

The Finance, Economic Planning and ICT Committee will continue the exercise on Monday. In the morning, the team will meet residents of Imaroro Ward at the MCA’s Office in Mashuuru starting at 10 a.m. Later in the afternoon, they will engage Imbirikani Ward residents at the Free Pentecostal Fellowship Church of Kenya (FPFK) from 2 p.m.

These consultative meetings are part of Kajiado County’s broader plan to involve citizens in setting development priorities. Through the forums, residents are helping shape decisions that will guide resource allocation and service delivery in the 2026/2027 financial year.
