Detectives in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, are investigating the killing of a woman whose body was discovered on a farm, the latest in a string of murders that have unsettled the fast-growing township.
The discovery was made on September 29 when a man out for a morning jog came across the body lying in a ditch. Police later confirmed the victim was a woman estimated to be about 30 years old. She had stab wounds to the head and bruises on her stomach and legs, injuries consistent with being dragged across a rough surface. Investigators believe she was killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene.
At the time of recovery, the woman was wearing a red and black jumper over a red top. However, her lower body was unclothed, with her pants and blue jeans left hanging on one leg. Her body has since been moved to the mortuary for identification and post-mortem examination as detectives continue to piece together what led to her death. No suspects have been arrested.
This latest case adds to a troubling pattern of violent deaths reported in Ongata Rongai in recent weeks. On August 16, bodaboda rider aged 41, was stabbed to death shortly after dropping off a female passenger. He sustained injuries to the chest, lower abdomen and near the armpit. Although he still had his phone and money, his life was cut short in what police described as a puzzling attack. The female passenger was later detained for questioning as part of ongoing investigations.

Just four days later, on August 20, another disturbing case emerged when 25-year-old Veronica Mwende was found dead in her bed after hosting an overnight birthday party at her home in Ongata Rongai. She had a slight injury on her chin, though investigators have yet to confirm whether that was the cause of her death. Police questioned those who had attended the party, but no arrests have been made in connection with the case at the time of writing this article.
The three incidents, all occurring within a span of six weeks, have drawn concern among residents and highlighted questions about safety in Ongata Rongai. Each case has a different setting and victim profile, yet all share the same outcome of unexplained loss of life. Police have not linked the incidents, but the frequency of violent deaths has unsettled the community.
For now, investigators are pursuing separate leads in each case as families and residents await answers. The growing list of unsolved murders has placed pressure on law enforcement to act swiftly and reassure the public that Rongai remains safe despite the troubling trend.
