The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially launched a nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with the national kickoff held in Kajiado County on Monday, September 29, 2025. The initiative aims to enlist over 6.3 million new voters, primarily targeting youth who have recently attained voting age.
The launch event took place at Mashuuru Primary School in Kajiado East, where IEBC commissioners were joined by Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku and other local leaders. The exercise is part of IEBC’s broader preparations for the 2027 General Election, with the commission projecting a total voter roll of 28.5 million, up from the current 22.1 million.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping Kenya’s democratic future. “We are calling on all eligible citizens, especially young people, to take advantage of this opportunity and register early,” he said.
In Kajiado County, registration is currently active at the IEBC constituency offices located in Ngong (Kajiado North), Kitengela (Kajiado East), Kajiado Town (Kajiado Central), Kisamis (Kajiado West), and Ilasit (Kajiado South). These centres will offer services including first-time registration, transfer of polling stations, correction of voter details, and verification of existing records.

IEBC has also announced plans to expand registration services to Huduma Centres, including those in Ngong and Kitengela, in the coming weeks. However, the rollout to ward-level and polling station centres will depend on funding availability.
The commission clarified that registration will not be conducted in areas where by-elections are currently underway. Citizens are encouraged to visit their nearest IEBC office to ensure they are properly registered and ready to vote in 2027.
