Kajiado County has initiated a significant youth empowerment drive, launching a full scholarship program for skills training targeting 800 young people. The program is a joint effort between the County Government and the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Foundation.
Speaking during the Vijana Tujiajiri Program held at the Isinya Vocational Training Centre, Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, announced the initiative, highlighting its transformative potential for the county’s youth. The training will be conducted at County Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).
The partnership is structured on a 50:50 basis, with the County Government committing Sh20 million and the KCB Foundation providing an equal amount, bringing the total investment to Sh40 million. The governor emphasized that the program’s goal is to equip the youth with practical skills that foster self-employment, moving them from job seekers to job creators.
