Kajiado MCAs Demand Accountability Over Stalled Projects

The Kajiado County Assembly’s Trade, Investments, and Enterprise Development Committee has raised the alarm over stalled market and boda boda infrastructure projects, the MCAs are now calling for tighter oversight and improved transparency from the Department of Trade.

Led by Ongata Rongai MCA Titus Matheka, the committee conducted site inspections across several locations, uncovering incomplete works despite the release of public funds. At Entarara Market, only a slab, steel columns, and partially built toilets were found, far short of a functional facility.

The committee directed that future payments be strictly tied to verified progress to prevent misuse of county resources.

Similar concerns were flagged at Matasia Market, which remains unfinished and uncommissioned. The committee has ordered a joint inspection with the Department of Public Works to assess the delays and recommend corrective action.

Meanwhile, Kerarapon Market showed signs of progress, but MCAs urged swift completion to make the space usable for traders.

The committee also reviewed boda boda shade projects in Illasit, Entarara, and Rombo. While some structures were in place, members insisted that final payments should only be made after full completion is confirmed through independent verification.
