Kajiado East MP commissions 100‑bed dormitory at Masimba Secondary

Kajiado East MP Kakuta Ole Maimai has commissioned a 100‑bed dormitory at Masimba Secondary School in Poka Kenyawa Ward, the initiative, a flagship project of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG‑CDF), was established to relieve boarding congestion and enhance the school’s infrastructure

Maimai said the investment is part of a constituency‑wide plan to ensure every school benefits from NG‑CDF projects by year’s end.

Addressing students, staff and parents during the commissioning, Maimai pledged sustained support for education facilities across Kajiado East, noting that improved access must be matched by better academic outcomes.

“By the end of this year, every school within the constituency will have at least one project funded through NG‑CDF,” he said, adding that infrastructure upgrades should translate into stronger results.

The MP expressed concern over Masimba Secondary’s performance in last year’s KCSE, where no candidate qualified for university admission. He said nearly KSh30 million has been set aside for university education in the constituency, but none of the school’s learners will benefit unless results improve.

Maimai called on parents to monitor their children’s progress every term to identify learning gaps early and support remediation. He also raised alarm over teacher shortages affecting several schools, urging the Ministry of Education to deploy additional staff to stabilize instruction and lift outcomes. He said adequate staffing, alongside targeted interventions, is essential to convert infrastructure gains into measurable academic improvement.

The MP announced plans for a constituency‑wide dialogue on education performance, bringing together school leaders, parents and stakeholders to agree on solutions, timelines and metrics. He emphasized that the new dormitory should serve as a catalyst for academic improvement by reducing overcrowding, improving student welfare and creating a learning environment where results can rise.
