The Kajiado County Government has been suspended from implementing the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme following concerns over financial management.
In a notice issued by the National Treasury, the county was informed that the suspension takes effect immediately until the raised issues are fully addressed and formally cleared.
According to the notice, the decision follows recent World Bank missions to Kajiado County, which identified several financial management irregularities. These include unauthorized use of funds, unsupported expenditures, activities that were paid for but not delivered and other weaknesses in accountability and governance.

The Treasury noted that while the findings were linked to two specific World Bank–funded projects, the issues raised broader concerns about the overall risk environment for programmes implemented within the county.
Due to these concerns, Kajiado County has been barred from continuing with the FLLoCA Programme until corrective measures are taken and proper communication is made to the National Treasury.
The FLLoCA Programme supports counties to implement climate action projects that are led at the local level, especially in vulnerable communities. The suspension means affected projects will remain on hold pending compliance and clearance.
