Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has scheduled a full-day electricity shutdown in key parts of Kajiado County on Thursday, November 20, 2025, to allow for planned maintenance on its distribution network. The company says the exercise is part of continuous efforts to improve the reliability and safety of power supply in fast-growing areas within the county.
The outage will last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, covering the Amboseli and Isara zones. Several institutions, lodges, businesses and homesteads will experience the interruption, including Jesbriquet, Sopa Lodge, Ngong Veg, AA Lodge, Mada Hotel, Kibo Safari, Ngong Narok Primary, Omra, Mbirikani, and parts of Simba Cement, together with surrounding customers who rely on the same line.

KPLC notes that the maintenance works involve system checks, line improvement and clearance of vegetation that interferes with power lines. The company says such activities help reduce unexpected outages, especially in rural and industrial areas where electricity demand is rising.
Residents and business owners have been urged to prepare for the nine-hour blackout by arranging alternative power sources where necessary. The utility company also reminded customers to treat all lines as live during the shutdown period for safety reasons.
