Senior DCI officer found dead in Namanga as police open investigations

Police in Kajiado County have launched investigations following the discovery of the decomposing body of Chief Inspector Dennis Kwena Ayoma, a senior officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The officer was found dead in his one-room house in the Majengo area of Namanga Town, Ololilai, on November 13, 2025.

According to police, neighbours detected a strong smell coming from the house and alerted authorities. When the door was opened, the officer’s body was found lying on the bed. Initial reports indicate that the body was discovered in a naked state and had been decomposing for several days. The exact time of death has not been established.

Authorities confirmed that Chief Inspector Ayoma was last seen in the area on Sunday evening. He had taken a short leave and was expected to resume duty on November 16, 2025. His failure to reappear in public or at work has now become a key point in the ongoing investigation.

The body was moved to the mortuary as officers await an autopsy that will determine the cause of death. Police say the findings will guide the next steps of the inquiry. They have not ruled out any possibilities and are examining all angles, including his movements before he was last seen.

Namanga and the wider Ololilai region have recorded isolated security concerns in the past, which investigators may consider as part of the wider context. However there is no confirmed link between the officer’s death and any ongoing cases he may have been handling.

Detectives are now piecing together his final days by analysing his communications, interviewing neighbours and reviewing any potential leads that may shed light on what transpired between Sunday and Thursday.

As investigations continue, authorities say more details will emerge after forensic and post-mortem results are completed. The case has drawn public attention due to the officer’s senior role within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the circumstances surrounding his death.
