Police Intercept Motorcycle, Seize Cannabis in Namelok Drug Bust

Police officers in Namelok, Kajiado County, have arrested two suspects and recovered 46 rolls of suspected cannabis sativa during a patrol operation at Namelok shopping centre. The suspects, who were allegedly ferrying the drugs on a motorcycle, are currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court.

The operation was triggered by a public tip-off about a motorcycle believed to be distributing illegal substances in the area. Officers from the Namelok Patrol Base responded swiftly, intercepting the motorcycle and recovering the narcotics, which are now being held as evidence at the police facility.

Authorities say the seizure is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit substances.

The National Police Service has commended the officers involved for their vigilance and professionalism, and praised members of the public for their cooperation.

“We urge citizens to continue sharing information on criminal activity,” the service said through a post on their X (formerly twitter) account, encouraging anonymous reports through toll-free hotlines 999, 911, 112, or via #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 and WhatsApp 0709 570 000.

The arrests come amid heightened enforcement in Kajiado South Sub-County, where authorities have intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations targeting drug networks.

Police say such community-driven interventions are vital in dismantling illegal supply chains and safeguarding public health.
