Well-wishers Transform Samuli School with Window Upgrade to Combat Harsh Weather

Learners and teachers at Samuli Primary and Junior Secondary School in Kajiado County are now enjoying cleaner, quieter, and more comfortable classrooms following the installation of over 30 glass windows under the Afriglory School Rehabilitation Program.

The school, located in a semi-arid and wind-prone region, has long struggled with dust infiltration, noise disruption, and poor air circulation, conditions that have made learning difficult and teaching strenuous.

The newly installed windows span eight classrooms and two dormitories, offering a practical solution to the environmental challenges that have plagued the institution for years.

According to Afriglory program coordinators, the upgrade is part of a broader effort to improve learning conditions in underserved schools across Kajiado. “We’ve seen how something as simple as a window can restore calm, focus, and dignity to the classroom,” said a spokesperson for the initiative.

Teachers at Samuli say the impact has been immediate. With reduced dust and better airflow, students are able to concentrate more effectively, and lessons proceed without the constant interruption of wind or outside noise. Dormitories have also become more livable, offering learners a healthier space to rest and study.

Additionally, the program has replaced a makeshift iron-sheet bathroom with a permanent, dignified structure, significantly improving hygiene and privacy for learners. The organization also rehabilitated cracked and muddy classroom floors, installing smooth, well-plastered concrete surfaces that are safer, cleaner, and more conducive to learning. These upgrades have restored comfort, confidence, and dignity to the school environment.

Local education officials have praised the intervention, noting that infrastructure improvements even modest ones can significantly enhance academic performance and teacher morale. The Afriglory team says it plans to expand the program to other schools in the region facing similar environmental constraints.
