Residents of Rongai and Nkaimurunya wards have been urged to report contractors who deliver substandard or incomplete work to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), as frustrations mount over stalled and misrepresented development projects in Kajiado County.
The call was made by Kajiado County MCAs during a public participation forum for the 2026/2027 Annual Development Plan (ADP), held at St. Mary’s Church. The forum was led by the County Assembly’s Finance Committee led by Rombo Ward MCA Jackson Angaine.
Residents raised concerns over several projects marked as “ongoing” or “complete” in county records, yet no visible work had been done on the ground. Others cited poor workmanship in road repairs, with contractors leaving drainage systems in disrepair and posing safety risks to the public.
MCAs also condemned the trend of “lazy contractors” who only show up during project launches and disappear until the next public participation exercise. “We must hold these individuals accountable. If you witness such behavior, report it to the EACC so that action can be taken,” he said.

In Rongai, residents also questioned the management of Talanta Social Hall, alleging that a sound system purchased for public use was being monopolized by a well-connected individual. They warned against prioritizing new projects such as the purchasing of the boxing ring while older ones remain incomplete or mismanaged.
Community members called on the MCAs to establish a Community Oversight Committee to monitor project implementation and ensure transparency.
They argued that such a body would empower residents to track progress and flag irregularities before they escalate.
MCAs pledged to escalate the concerns raised and push for stronger oversight mechanisms in upcoming budget cycles.
