Ngong Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mbiriri Mwaura today distributed food supplies donated through the Kenya Relief Food Programme to public institutions and vulnerable residents across the ward.
Speaking while presiding over the food donation exercise, Mwaura said he had prioritized public primary and secondary schools, the Ngong Sub County Hospital, Hubad Children Home and elderly residents drawn from different areas of the ward.
“I have chosen to channel most of our food donations to Ngong public schools both primary and secondary, children’s homes, the sub county hospital and the elderly across Ngong Ward because they are the most affected and vulnerable in our community,” he said.
He noted that schools support hundreds of learners every day, many of whom depend on school feeding programmes to stay in class and concentrate on their studies. He added that children’s homes care for some of the most vulnerable members of society and require consistent support to meet their daily needs.

“Our schools support hundreds of learners daily, children’s homes care for the most vulnerable among us, hospitals serve patients who require proper nutrition to recover, and many elderly citizens continue to struggle silently,” he said.
At the Ngong Sub County Hospital, the donated food is expected to supplement meals for patients, particularly those admitted for long periods and in need of proper nutrition to aid recovery. The elderly beneficiaries, some of whom face economic hardship and limited family support, also received food packages during the exercise.
Mwaura said the distribution aimed to ease the burden on struggling families and institutions amid rising living costs. He called on other leaders, organisations and well wishers to continue supporting vulnerable groups in the community.
Residents and representatives from the beneficiary institutions welcomed the initiative, saying the donations would go a long way in supporting learners, patients and disadvantaged families within Ngong Ward.
