Residents of Imurtot in Kajiado South Sub-County are set to benefit from improved access to quality healthcare following the upgrading of the local health centre to a Level Four hospital.
The Ksh 55 million project will significantly expand medical services in the area, with the upgraded facility set to include a fully equipped theatre, radiology services and a modern maternity unit. Once completed, the hospital is expected to ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances to access specialized care.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku said the upgrade reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. He noted that the project is part of broader efforts to ensure residents can access essential medical services closer to home.
Governor Lenku added that emergency and referral services in the area have also received a boost through the provision of a fully equipped ambulance. The ambulance is expected to improve emergency response times and ensure faster referrals for patients requiring advanced care
