Kajiado County Woman Rep launches Ksh 5.9M NGAAF bursary

Kajiado County Woman Representative Leah Sankaire on January 6, 2026, officially launched the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) bursary at her office in Kajiado North, marking another step in efforts to strengthen access to education across the county.

The bursary allocation, totaling Ksh 5,961,034, benefited 362 students drawn from various parts of Kajiado County, targeting learners in both secondary schools and institutions of higher learning. The program seeks to ease the financial burden faced by families and ensure students remain focused on their studies.

Under the current allocation, each high school student received Ksh 10,000, while students enrolled in universities and other higher institutions received Ksh 20,000 each. The structured disbursement reflects a deliberate approach aimed at addressing varying educational needs while ensuring equitable distribution of resources.

Education continues to be a central pillar of development under the Office of the Woman Representative. By prioritizing bursary support, the office aims to reduce school dropout rates, promote academic continuity, and support vulnerable learners across the county. The NGAAF bursary program is part of broader interventions designed to empower young people through access to quality education.

The initiative underscores the role of education as an equalizer, providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their academic goals. Emphasis has been placed on quality support that delivers measurable impact, rather than broad but ineffective interventions.

Through the NGAAF bursary, the Office of the Woman Representative continues to invest in human capital development, recognizing that an educated community is essential for long-term social and economic progress. The program remains a key instrument in strengthening education outcomes and empowering future generations across Kajiado County.
