A night guard was killed and another seriously injured after armed thugs raided a construction site in the Oloolua area of Kajiado County. The Thursday morning attack has raised fresh concerns over rising insecurity targeting construction projects in the region.
Police said the gang, whose number remains unknown, stormed the site at Hill Top estate and tied the two guards before attacking them. The assailants then escaped in a waiting car with assorted construction materials and office equipment.
One of the guards, identified as Lampart Lenkoyo, 35, was found dead at the scene with his hands and legs bound. His colleague sustained multiple injuries from the attack and was rushed to hospital in serious condition.
The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.

Authorities confirmed that a manhunt has been launched for the gang behind the incident. Police pledged to intensify patrols and deploy more personnel to construction sites, which have increasingly become targets for criminals.
Residents say the surge in construction activity in Oloolua and surrounding estates has attracted gangs who view the sites as easy targets for theft. The latest incident adds to a growing list of attacks that have left workers vulnerable and property owners counting losses.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity as investigations continue. The injured guard is receiving treatment, while detectives pursue leads to apprehend the attackers.
