Kajiado North has taken a major leap in grassroots sports development following the launch of the Sheria Mtaani Boxing Facility at Olkeri, a state-of-the-art centre equipped with an Olympic-standard boxing ring.
The facility, spearheaded by boxer cum lawyer Shadrack Wambui, is the first of its kind in the constituency and is expected to transform the local boxing scene.
“This ring meets Olympic qualifications and will be a game-changer for young boxers in this region,” said Wakili Shadrack during the launch. “It’s time we stopped begging politicians and started building our own platforms to nurture talent.”
Local boxers praised the initiative, noting that for years they trained without a proper ring often marking chalk outlines on the grounds of Kiserian Primary School. “We used to face real rings for the first time during competitions. This facility will give us ring awareness and sharpen our skills,” said one of the boxers.
The launch featured Sheria Mtaani boxing matches, showcasing local talent and setting the stage for an upcoming event dubbed Law of the Ring 3, scheduled for November 29, 2025. The competition will serve both as a scouting platform and a fundraising drive to equip local gyms and support emerging athletes.

Residents hailed the facility as a long-overdue blessing. “We’ve trained in the rain and on bare ground for months. This feels like a national team facility,” said one of the youth coach. “It will also allow us to hold weekly sparring sessions and challenge our elected leaders to do more.”
Ongata Rongai’s Titus Matheka, who attended the launch, revealed that he had previously allocated funds for a boxing ring, but the implementation department failed to deliver. “I’m now pushing for a similar facility in Ongata Rongai to benefit the entire county,” he said.
Ngong MCA Mwaura Mbiriri also commended the initiative. “This is the kind of leadership we need, one that empowers youth through action, not promises,” he said.
The Sheria Mtaani facility now positions Kajiado North as a rising hub for boxing excellence, discipline, and community-driven sports development.
