Naivas Supermarket, Kenya’s leading home-grown retailer, has expanded its footprint with the opening of its 111th branch at OUR Mall along Magadi Road, Nairobi. The launch marks another milestone in Naivas’ 35-year journey of transforming the local retail landscape and reaffirming its commitment to providing affordable, quality, and authentically Kenyan shopping experiences.
The new branch offers a comprehensive shopping experience under one roof, featuring fresh produce, groceries, household goods, beauty products, electronics and lifestyle items. The launch was celebrated with fanfare, as hundreds of shoppers attended to take advantage of special discounts, giveaways and shopping vouchers. The event also coincided with Naivas’ 35th anniversary, a moment of pride for a company that began as a single family-owned shop in Nakuru in 1990 and has grown into Kenya’s most trusted supermarket chain.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, the retailer rolled out its annual Kikwetu Campaign, a nationwide customer reward initiative that gives loyal shoppers the chance to win daily, weekly and monthly prizes. Shoppers stand to win household appliances, shopping vouchers, motorcycles and cars, with winners selected randomly at checkout. According to Kariuki, the campaign reflects Naivas’ appreciation of the loyalty and trust that Kenyan customers have shown throughout the years.
In addition to celebrating customer loyalty, Naivas marked its 35th year with a major act of giving. The retailer donated Ksh5 million to Mogra Children’s Home in Nairobi to support over 650 children in need of food, shelter and education. The funds were raised through contributions from employees and suppliers and matched by the company. This partnership, now in its fourth year, demonstrates Naivas’ continued commitment to uplifting communities through sustainable corporate social responsibility programs.

He said the retailer’s dedication to promoting local products has strengthened the country’s manufacturing and agricultural sectors, adding that Naivas has been instrumental in supporting local industries to meet global standards.
Currently, more than 90 percent of Naivas’ products are sourced locally, creating jobs, boosting small-scale enterprises, and promoting economic growth.
The launch of the Magadi Road branch is part of Naivas’ long-term strategy to make quality retail services accessible to more Kenyans. Each new branch strengthens the brand’s mission of blending global retail standards with a distinctly Kenyan touch , what the company calls the “Kikwetu Spirit.”
