The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has officially launched the Nosim FM transmitter in Kipeto, Kajiado County, marking a major milestone in expanding Maasai language broadcasting in the region. The colourful event was attended by ICT Cabinet Secretary (CS) William Kabogo and Kajiado County Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho who joined KBC Managing Director Agnes Nguna and the Corporation’s management team for the official ceremony.
The new transmitter will enhance Nosim FM’s signal coverage across Kipeto and surrounding areas, ensuring clearer reception and broader access to its programmes. Nosim FM, one of KBC’s vernacular stations, broadcasts primarily in the Maa language and focuses on cultural preservation, education, entertainment and community empowerment. Its programmes are designed to inform and engage Maasai-speaking audiences while promoting national unity and development.

The launch reaffirms KBC’s commitment to expanding its footprint in regional broadcasting by reaching communities that have long struggled with weak radio signals. With Kipeto now added to its network, Nosim FM strengthens its presence in Kajiado, where it already operates on frequencies such as 105.7 FM, serving towns like Kajiado, Namanga and Loitokitok.
KBC continues to operate several other radio and television stations across Kenya under its public service mandate, providing diverse and inclusive content that reflects the country’s cultural richness. The new Kipeto transmitter is expected to boost information access, education, and entertainment while giving the Maasai community a stronger platform to share their voices and stories with the nation.
