MSEA and Absa Empower PWD Groups in Kajiado Through Financial Literacy and Business Formalization

Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kajiado County are set to benefit from expanded economic opportunities following a joint sensitization forum organized by the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) and Absa Bank Kenya.

The forum, held earlier this week, focused on equipping PWD groups with financial literacy skills, guidance on formalizing their associations, and access to machinery and equipment through Common User Facilities.

The initiative is part of a broader government effort to promote inclusive enterprise development and sustainable livelihoods among marginalised communities.

Participants were trained on budgeting, saving, and navigating group registration processes, which are key steps toward accessing government support and private sector financing. MSEA officials also outlined the agency’s mandate and available services, while Absa Bank representatives shared insights on financial planning and business growth.

“We want to ensure that PWD groups are not just included but empowered to thrive in Kenya’s enterprise ecosystem,” said a representative from MSEA Kajiado. “Formalization opens doors to funding, equipment, and long-term sustainability.”

Following the session, several PWD groups expressed interest in registering their associations to qualify for machinery support and government-backed funding programs. Organizers say the response reflects growing awareness and ambition among PWD entrepreneurs in the region.

Both MSEA and Absa Bank pledged continued collaboration to support PWDs through training, access to credit, and enterprise development tools.

The partnership aligns with national goals on economic inclusion and disability empowerment.

The forum marked a significant step in bridging the gap between policy and practice by ensuring that PWDs in Kajiado are equipped not only with knowledge but with the tools to build resilient, dignified livelihoods.
