Olosho Awards 2025: Maasai brilliance shines at a night of culture and glamour

The Carnivore Simba Saloon in Nairobi turned into a sea of elegance and pride on October 24 as the Olosho Awards 2025 celebrated the finest of Maasai talent and achievement. The night was alive with rhythm, laughter and colour as artists, leaders and media personalities gathered to honour excellence within the Maa community. It was an evening that captured the beauty of tradition meeting modern creativity.

Unlike national award ceremonies, the Olosho Awards are purely a Maasai affair. They recognise individuals and institutions that continue to lift the Maa name higher through culture, innovation and talent. The event has become a proud platform for the community to tell its own story, celebrate its people, and showcase its strength in art, leadership, and entertainment.

Guests arrived in stunning Maasai-inspired fashion that filled the venue with beauty and dignity. The red carpet gleamed with colour as cameras flashed and cheers echoed through the air. It was more than just a celebration; it was a statement of unity and progress for the Maasai people. Among those honored was Jonathan Ole Rampei, who won Blogger of the Year for his creative storytelling and dedication to promoting Maasai voices online. Katoo Ole Metito received the award for Most Outstanding Maasai Politician, praised for his strong leadership and commitment to serving the community.

The entertainment categories brought even more excitement. DJ Queen was crowned Female Artist of the Year for her growing influence in Maasai music, while Sian took home Best TikToker of the Year for her entertaining and culturally rich content. Sinkua Nanai shone as Media Personality of the Year, recognised for her professionalism and contribution to local broadcasting.

Music lovers celebrated Agatha Naserian, who won Best Song of the Year, while Saningo Dimero was honoured as Best Maa Artist for his role in keeping traditional music alive through a modern sound. Kajiado TV earned the title of Most Outstanding Maa Online TV, applauded for its commitment to sharing community stories and inspiring local creativity.

The creative arts were also well represented. Coco won Video Vixen of the Year, while James Naingisa took home Photographer of the Year for his ability to capture the essence of Maasai beauty and culture. Sasha Mett was named Influencer of the Year, a reflection of her strong digital presence and impact among young Maasai audiences.

 

The laughter and leadership segments brought a joyful close to the night. Merin Turere received Comedian of the Year for her witty performances that blend humour with culture, while Gabriel Supeet was named Young Leader of the Year, celebrated for inspiring the youth through action and vision. The highlight came when Maiyan FM presenters Timothy Toriken and Sylvia Naini were jointly announced as Presenters of the Year, cheered by fans for their chemistry and excellence on air.
