Football excitement is rising in Langata as teams prepare for Abass Cup, a community tournament that will kick off on November 10 at Nyayo Stadium. Sponsored by Hon Abass through the Abass Foundation, the event aims to combine football passion with youth empowerment and community unity.
The tournament has already captured attention across Langata, bringing together clubs, players and fans eager to see who will lift the coveted trophy. But the Abass Cup is more than just a football contest. It is a platform designed to inspire discipline, teamwork, and ambition among the youth while promoting peace and social development.
Every participating team will receive Ksh 50,000 from the organizers, ensuring that all players benefit from their efforts on the pitch. The top teams, however, will walk away with major prizes. The overall winner will take home a brand new minibus, the first runners-up will receive a 14-seater matatu, and the third-placed team will be awarded a saloon car.
The prizes have sparked fierce preparation across Langata, with teams intensifying their training and friendly matches ahead of the big kickoff. Coaches are fine-tuning tactics while fans are preparing to rally behind their favourite sides in what promises to be an action-packed competition.

According to the Abass Foundation, the tournament is meant to use football as a tool for change, giving young people an opportunity to showcase their talent while staying active and productive. The event will also promote local bonding as families, leaders, and supporters come together to cheer their community teams.
The grand finale is set for December 12, during the Jamhuri Day celebrations, where the best of Langata football will be crowned at Nyayo Stadium. Organizers have promised a lively atmosphere with entertainment, fan activities, and fair play at the center of every match.
With excitement building each day, the Abass Cup is shaping up to be more than just a tournament. It is a celebration of talent, unity, and hope for a brighter future through sports.
