GSU officer killed at State House gate to be laid to rest

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer attached to State House, Nairobi, died on Monday, October 13, following a tragic attack while on duty. The officer, Ramadhani Hamisi Mattanka, was stationed at one of the main gates during the incident that has left his family, friends and colleagues in deep sorrow.

Hamisi hailed from the Matanga family, who reside near Shukran Guest House in Dallalekutuk Ward, Kajiado Central Sub-county. He was on official duty at the time of the attack, and his sudden death has been received with shock both at home and within the security fraternity.

Hamisi was attacked by an assailant armed with a bow and arrow while manning the gate. The attacker shot him in the chest and the arrow pierced through his ribs and lungs, causing heavy internal bleeding. Fellow officers responded quickly and rushed him to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving emergency treatment.
