Calm Returns to Isinya After Deadly Clashes as Authorities Vow Continued Patrols

Normalcy has returned to Isinya town following recent ethnic clashes that left one person dead and several others injured. The violence, which erupted earlier this week, disrupted business and transport activities and raised concerns over community tensions.

Isinya Deputy County Commissioner Michael Yator, who also chairs the Subcounty Security and Intelligence Committee, confirmed that calm has been restored after a series of meetings between police, local leaders, and boda boda youth groups from the warring factions. “There was incitement, but after engaging both sides, they agreed to bury their differences and pursue peace,” Yator said.

He assured residents and business owners that operations have resumed across the town, with only a few still hesitant due to lingering fear. Yator urged local leaders to cooperate with security agencies and ensure that any public meetings are communicated in advance to avoid further unrest. He also called on leaders to convene peace forums and refrain from inflammatory rhetoric.

Isinya Subcounty Police Commander Simon Yokitari echoed the assurance, stating that patrols have been intensified following reinforcements from the General Service Unit (GSU). “We are committed to maintaining peace and will continue with patrols until calm is fully restored,” Otari said.

Yokitari also confirmed that investigations into the clashes are ongoing and warned that individuals whose names have been forwarded to authorities will be singled out and held accountable. “The law is very clear, if your name has been forwarded, we shall single you out from the crowd,” he said, adding that further updates will be shared once investigations are complete.

Authorities say they will remain vigilant to prevent any resurgence of conflict.
