Kware Market receives upgrade, new walkway eases congestion on Magadi Road

Kware Market, located in Ongata Rongai has received a major upgrade following the construction of a modern walkway by the Kajiado County Government. The development marks a significant step toward improving safety, accessibility and cleanliness in one of the busiest and fastest-growing trading centers in Kajiado.

The newly built walkway has made it easier for buyers to access stalls without squeezing through crowded or muddy paths. It has also provided a safe route for pedestrians, separating them from vehicles and easing congestion along the busy Magadi Road. The walkway has reduced accidents and traffic jams that had become common as shoppers and vehicles competed for space.

Before the tarmacking of the internal roads, movement within Kware Market was extremely difficult, especially during rainy seasons. Motorbikes transporting goods often got stuck in the mud, causing long delays. The poor road conditions discouraged customers and limited the traders’ ability to move supplies efficiently. The new tarmacked roads have since solved these challenges, enabling smooth transport and better connectivity between different sections of the market.

The walkway and road projects have also improved the market’s overall appearance and hygiene. Shoppers can now move comfortably without stepping on mud, while traders are able to arrange their stalls in an organized manner that attracts more customers.

In addition, the installation of security lights around the market has enhanced safety and visibility, particularly in the evenings. The lighting has reduced insecurity and encouraged extended business hours, which has boosted income for local traders.

Through these coordinated infrastructure improvements, Kware Market has been transformed into a cleaner, safer, and more efficient trading hub. The ongoing efforts by the Kajiado County Government reflect a broader commitment to modernizing markets and improving the livelihoods of residents across the county.
