Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has called for the urgent resurfacing of the Ngong-Suswa road ahead of the upcoming Maa Cultural Week, scheduled to take place in Amboseli from November 5 to 9.
The governor emphasized the road’s strategic importance in facilitating movement across southern Kenya and easing traffic congestion on Mombasa Road.
Speaking during a recent function in Kajiado attended by senior government officials, Lenku noted that the road stretches from Suswa through Ngong, Isinya, Kajiado, Imaroro, and Mashoro. He said the route plays a critical role in regional connectivity and must be prioritized for maintenance ahead of the high-profile cultural event.

“Our request is that our road be resurfaced. This road starts from Suswa, passes through Ngong, Isinya, Kajiado, Imaroro, and Mashoro, and it plays a major role in decongesting Mombasa Road. It also helps ease transportation within the county and across Southern Kenya,” Lenku said.
With the Maa Cultural Week expected to attract dignitaries including the president, Lenku stressed that the road must be in optimal condition to support smooth access to Amboseli, the venue of the annual celebration.
The event is a key cultural highlight for the Maa community and draws participants from across the country and beyond.
