Kajiado Assembly members register SACCO to boost investment

Staff and members of the Kajiado County Assembly have registered a SACCO to empower themselves
through credit access and investment opportunities.
The cooperative, named Kajiado County Bunge Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited,
received its registration certificate on 20th March 2025.
The move was commended by Kajiado County Director of Cooperatives, James Taiko, who said the
SACCO will support the growth of members’ investments.
“SACCOs provide lower interest rates on loans, higher returns on savings, and often offer more flexible
loan terms compared to commercial banks,” Taiko noted.
He added that, according to recent statistics, SACCOs now issue more loans than commercial banks,
which many members are abandoning due to high interest rates.
With collective commitment and a shared vision, the Bunge SACCO is expected to become a pillar of
economic empowerment for assembly members and contribute to long-term financial growth within the
county.
